PICMET '08 On-line Submission Information

Submission Process:

  • Step-1: (Deadline: November 30, 2007 (extended to December 16)):
    Submission of the abstract, up to 200 words long, for any of the six submission types listed below:

    1.

    Research paper: On-going or completed research on technology management

    2.

    Application paper: Cases, industry application, successful and unsuccessful strategies in technology management

    3.

    Panel discussion: Brief presentations by 3-4 panelists followed by a Question/Answer session

    4.

    Session: Three papers by different authors addressing various aspects of an issue

    5.

    Tutorial: Authoritative presentation on critical topics in technology management

     

     

  • Step-2: Completion of the review of abstracts under the Abstract Evaluation Criteria and notification of the authors about the accept/reject decision for the abstract.
     

  • Step-3: (Deadline: February 15, 2008 (extended to February 29)):
    Submission of the following materials for the accepted abstracts:

    Full manuscript (up to 30 double-spaced pages. No special format needed.)

    2. Applications paper

    Full manuscript (up to 30 double-spaced pages. No special format needed.) or copies of PowerPoint presentation (up to 30 slides)

    4. Session

    Full manuscript (up to 30 double-spaced pages. No special format needed.) for the  research papers or either the full manuscript (up to 30 double-spaced pages. No special format needed.) or copies of PowerPoint presentation (up to 30 slides) for the application papers  in the session

    5. Tutorial

    Photo and background information of the presenter(s)

     

     

  • Step-4: Peer review process for the papers under the Paper Evaluation Criteria

  • Step-5: Accept/reject/modify decision for the paper from PICMET to the authors

  • Step-6 (Deadline: April 15, 2008 (extended to April 30)):
    Submission of the final version of the accepted paper along with the copyright forms and the registration of at least one of the authors of each paper..


Peer Review Process:

All submissions to PICMET are subjected to a peer review process. This is the step after the full manuscript (or the copies of PowerPoint presentation for industry applications) have been submitted by the author(s). Each submission is evaluated by one or more referees using the Paper Evaluation Criteria for each type of paper. The accept/reject decision for the papers is made after the peer review process is completed and the authors make the recommended changes. The finalized papers, along with the copyright forms, are submitted to PICMET by April 15, 2008 (extended to April 30).


Evaluation Criteria:

Abstracts
Abstracts are evaluated using the following "Abstract Evaluation Criteria"
1. Relevance to Technology Management
2. Relevance to the theme of the conference
3. Significance of the topic
4. Potential impact on Technology Management

Papers
The full manuscripts are subjected to a peer review process using the following "Paper Evaluation Criteria"

Research Papers:
1. Originality of the research
2. Technical accuracy
3. Appropriateness of the research methodology
4. Significance of the findings
5. Adequacy of references
6. Contribution to the state of knowledge
7. Clarity of the paper

Applications Papers  (The authors may submit either the manuscript or the copies of their slides preferably in PowerPoint format)
1. Adequacy of the information provided (including but not limited to cases, descriptions of industrial applications, and successful and unsuccessful examples of technology management strategies in existing and emerging technologies)
2. Importance of the lessons learned
3. Potential contribution to future applications
4a. Clarity of the paper (if a manuscript is submitted)
4b. Clarity of the PowerPoint slides (if copies of the presentation slides are submitted)
