Dr. Hiroyuki Yamasaki holds B.Eng., M.Eng., and Ph.D. degrees
all from Shizuoka University, Hamamatsu, Japan. He is an admitted
Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.) with the British Engineering Council.
He joined Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Tokyo, Japan in 1985.
His career in the company is outlined as follows: 1985-1991, senior
engineer of the LSI Laboratory (Hyogo, Japan), 1991-1995, assistant
manager of Strategic R&D Planning Group of ULSI Laboratory
(Hyogo, Japan); 1995, manager of R&D Planning Office, ULSI
Laboratory;1995, manager of the Strategic Planning, ULSI Development
Center (Hyogo, Japan).
April 1, 2003, Renesas Technology Corp. (one of the largest semiconductor companies in
the world, provides highly integrated semiconductor system
solutions for mobile, automotive, networking, and digital home
electronics markets) has separated from Hitachi, Ltd. and Mitsubishi
Electric Corporation, and commenced operations as the world's
leading System LSI company. He presently holds the post of manager
of Planning Group, LSI Manufacturing Technology Unit, Renesas
Technology Corp. (Hyogo, Japan).
From 2001, he is also an Advisor, Japan Productivity Center for Socio-Economic Development
(Tokyo, Japan)and from 2003, an Advisor and Fellow, Innovation Promotion Association-Japan (Tokyo, Japan). He has received the Takayanagi Memorial Award
for ''Research on Novel Solid-state Imaging Devices with Inherent
MNOS Memory'' in 1986, and the Meritorious Person Award from Sanda
City (Hyogo, Japan) in 1993. He lectured at the Graduate School
of Engineering, Shizuoka University, in 1991, and was a visiting
associate professor at the Center for Joint Research, Shizuoka
University, in 1996. He is founding secretary of the IEEE Japan Chapter of
EMS and correspondent of Japan of IAMOT. He was a
member of the Board of Directors of the Japan Society for Science
Policy and Research Management (JSSPRM) and now councilor of JSSPRM.
