PICMET (Portland International Center for Management of Engineering and
Technology) was established in 1989. Its objective is to support generation
and dissemination of knowledge in technology management, worldwide. The
primary activity to achieve this objective is the annual international
conference.
PICMET Conference is the annual scientific conference shaping the
field of engineering and technology management in communication with more
than 14,000 technology management leaders and emerging leaders around the
world through dissemination of knowledge about research, education and
implementation of technology management.
PICMET'19 Conference
Theme for the 2019 conference, which marks 30th Anniversary of
PICMET, will be "Technology Management in the World of Intelligent Systems". As
artificial Intelligence, robotics, autonomous cars, drones, the IoT
(Internet of Things), and the applications of these intelligent
technologies to nano-materials, energy, medicine and other industries are
rapidly changing the world we live in, the future of society, economy and
industry will be radically different from the present. This year's
conference will be focusing on managing these transformative technological
changes, through proper technology management practices including the
management of not only the technical system, but also the economic,
environmental, social, political, legal, ethical and regulatory aspects of
technology, possibly to create an unprecedented economic growth, cure the
"incurable" diseases and stabilize the environmental ecosystem.
