Mr. Ikuo Yamada holds B.Eng. degree from Keio University, Tokyo, Japan. He joined Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Tokyo, Japan in 1961. His career in the company is outlined as follows: 1989-1993, general manager of Engineering Management Headquarters (Tokyo, Japan); 1993-1994, dean of Corporate University (Hyogo, Japan); 1994-2000, managing director of Mitsubishi Research Institute, Inc. (MRI) (Tokyo, Japan). Now he holds the post of advisor to the Board of Directors of MRI and also executive director of the Engineering Academy of Japan. He has received the Prize of Progress from the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan (JIEE) for ''Research on Security Monitoring System for Electric Power System'' in 1975. He received the Best Chairman of the Year Award from the IEEE EMS in 1998. He was director of Information Processing Society of Japan in 1985-1986, vice chairman of the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan (JIEE) in 1992-1993, and vice chairman of the Operations Research Society of Japan in 1996-1997. He was chairman of the IEEE Japan Chapter of EMS in 1998-2000. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Japan Society for Science Policy and Research Management (JSSPRM) and now councilor of JSSPRM. |
